Unlike some other humidifiers, the warm mist humidification dispensed by the Vicks Germ Free Humidifier or previous Slant Fin Humidifier contains no fine white mineral dust that comes from hard tap water. Use of a Mineral Absorption Pad placed in the bottom of the humidifier’s hot water reservoir traps and absorbs hard minerals inside the reservoir before warm mist is released in the air. Use of the Absorption Pad prevents the hard scale buildup that can otherwise shorten the life of your humidifier. Pads generally last 2-4 weeks depending on hardness of your water.
