The Pre-Filter performs this job as the first stage in a 2-stage filtration process that Honeywell utilizes in all of its HEPA air purifiers.
By capturing large particles, the Universal Carbon Pre-Filter not only helps to freshen and clean the air of large contaminants, but also helps to prolong the life of the HEPA filter, whose primary job is to capture much smaller particles and allergens. In addition to large particle filtration, the activated carbon in the Honeywell Universal Pre-Filter also helps to absorb and reduce household odors.

Honeywell's Universal Pre-Filter fits the Honeywell
QuietCare 17005, the
Silent Comfort 18155, the
50150 and
50250 True HEPA air purifiers, and virtually all other round Honeywell air purifiers.
The 16” x 46” filter media is perforated so that you can cut the pre-filter material to fit your Honeywell air purifier. Depending on your air purifier model, you can get 1–8 uses out of a single pre-filter.
Replace Pre-Filter once every 1-3 months, depending on the degree of particles and odors in your home. Filter is easy to install in the purifier.
This Universal Pre-filter model 38002 replaces models 32002, 33002, 34002 and 35002. Depending on your Honeywell air purifier model (X indicates 0 – 9), you’ll get the following number of uses out of the pre-filter:
