The GermGuardian AC5000E's attractive, uncomplicated control panel features a push button on/off UV switch – a nice feature that let's you decide when you want UV protection. A blue light illuminates under the unit's top rim when UV power is turned on. The AC5000E also features a rotary dial to power the unit on and select fan speed. When set on Low, the AC5000E is extremely quiet, and only moderately louder on Medium. While noticeably louder on High (sound approximates that of a normal conversation), many customers find they use the high setting for quick or maximum air cleaning. The small footprint and tower-style design of the AC5000E mean it virtually can be placed anywhere, and its built-in carry handle and lighter weight make it very portable. 5-Year Manufacturer's Limited Warranty.

Instructions ‐ GermGuardian® 4-in-1 Air Cleaning System AC5000E
Please see Owner's Manual tab for operating and care instructions, including full instructions on changing the Combination Filter pack and the UV-C Bulb.
General:
- The AC5000E is ready to be used right out of the box.
- For proper air flow, place the unit on a flat surface at least one (1) foot from any wall or furnishing.
- Plug the polarized 2-prong plug into a 120V AC outlet.
Combination Filter – Care and Replacement:
- Replace the Combination Filter (#FLT5000 Replacement Filter C) approximately every 6-8 months for optimum performance. When the HEPA filter media begins to turn from white to grey or black the combination filter should be changed. The genuine Guardian Technologies™ replacement filter can be ordered from National Allergy, and combines three (3) layers of filtration, including:
- Pre-Filter – captures large particles like dust, lint and pet hairs.
- True HEPA Filter – traps 99.97% of airborne allergens and pollutants as small as 0.3 microns that pass through the filter.
- Carbon Filter + Photocatalyst – Activated charcoal absorbs household odors. Photocatalytic titanium dioxide is activated by the UV-C light, providing a second potent level of odor reduction, and also preventing the growth of germs, bacteria and mold.
- Note that the pre-filter can be cleaned between filter changes using the brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner.
- Remember that filter service life is related to the volume of air that passes through the purifier and the amount of contaminants in the air. If the air you are purifying has unusually high levels of airborne particulates or contaminants, the service life of the filter may be shortened.
- Do NOT try to wash or immerse the combination filter or any its filter layers in water – they are NOT washable.
UV-C Bulb Replacement:
- Please carefully read and follow all instructions provided by the manufacturer.
- Replace the UV-C Bulb (#LB5000) approximately every 10-12 months, depending on use.
- Replacing the UV-C Bulb is easy. The protective Metal Shield covering the UV-C Bulb will need to be removed (requires removal of two (2) Phillips-head screws) in order to access the bulb.
- WARNING: Be sure to unplug the air cleaner from the power outlet before servicing or replacing the UV-C bulb. Never look directly at an unprotected, lit UV-C bulb, as direct exposure can be harmful to the eyes and skin.
